Vanellope doesn't have that-her motivation is sympathetic, but that's not necessarily the same thing as being a sympathetic character. I can understand frustration in the doldrums of a routine, but compare Vanellope's strife to the decades-long abuse Ralph took from the Nice-landers and his desperation to be "The Hero" and his attempt to sacrifice himself, a very heroic and noble thing to do, to rectify his sins. "Going Turbo" was something abhorred by all denizens of the Arcade, including those who joined up after Turbo's time. Such an action was a cardinal sin in the first game.
